JFS volunteers visit members in the Jewish community currently receiving care at a local hospital, rehab or nursing facility. Bikur Cholim volunteers are trained and provide comfort to patients in a time of need. Bikur Cholim is currently offered at WakeMed Raleigh, WakeMed Cary, Rex Hospital, Duke Raleigh.
JFS coordinates several Holiday and Shabbat outreach efforts to provide families and individuals in need the experience and opportunity of Jewish traditions when they may not be able to take part in the greater community. Whether they are home bound, isolated or have a financial need, JFS is here to provide the Jewish connection. Among these are catered Kosher-style Shabbat and holiday meals, a Chanukah Gift Drive, Passover bags and more.

Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world. In 2017, Raleigh-Cary Jewish Family Services marked its 3rd year coordinating and leading this day with over 450 volunteers. Learn more here.
Sharsheret leads the national Jewish response to breast cancer and ovarian cancer by working with local community partners, to create and enhance culturally-relevant local breast cancer programs, support services, resources, and events. Raleigh-Cary Jewish Family Services became a Shrarsheret partner in June 2016.
Join us in September for our annual community collection to support Sharsheret’s Busy Box collection!
